Welcome to Happy, Joyous AF!
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I'm a compulsive over and undereater.
In August of 2015, I walked into my first Overeaters Anonymous meeting miserable, weeping, terrified after a lifetime of hating my body and my weight.
In the almost four years since then, I've lost weight, learned to love my body (ok, learned to like my body), but above all, I feel so much saner and at peace. I've worked the steps four times in four years, but just recently, I am living in Step 10, 11, and 12 in a new way. I'm feeling called to share my experience, strength, and hope in new ways. It was a memoir that made me realize I was a food addict, and it was a memoir that got me into OA, so I know first hand that personal stories have power. I know that I can likely reach a compulsive overeater the way no professional can.
My recovery from food addiction is deadly serious, but I strive not to take myself too seriously. I like to laugh at myself. I like to curse. I have a million ideas of things I want to write about and stories I want to tell, so I'm just going to dive in and get started.
Welcome!
